In 2023 or so, after shooting digital for 20-plus years, I got a hankering to shoot film again. I got myself a used K1000, similar to the Pentax Spotmatic-F I used for many years in the early years of my young family life, bought a black bag and some chemicals and dived right back in to a world I thought I had left behind for good. I love shooting film - the clunk of the shutter, the slow deliberatation; waiting - sometimes weeks - to see the image, but only after developing and scanning and then processing with software. Ultimately, I switched over to a Canon Elan (similar to the last film camera I used in 1999). These images are from both the K1000 and the Elan, with a combination of HP5 and Tri-X film, and represent, in no particular order, many hours of traipsing around Boston, on foot and via subway. My favorie images are the ones where I’m interacting with people.
